Legacy of the Pearl
Anuradhapura is a major city in Sri Lanka. It is the capital city of North Central Province and one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of an ancient Sinhalese civilization. It was the third capital of the Kingdom of Rajarata. The city, now a World Heritage Site, was the centre of Theravada Buddhism for many centuries. The city is home to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, the oldest living human-planted tree in the world, and massive brick stupas like the Ruwanwelisaya and Jethawanaramaya, which were among the tallest structures in the ancient world.
"Sri Lanka is a land like no other, where every stone tells a thousand-year-old story of kings and legends."
